PRO-AM 8: WE DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT

No building engineer likes to get a frantic call from a tenant for help at the end of the day. Especially when the emergency is a flood of water that’s slowly spreading throughout their suite from a broken pipe under a sink. Don Chick, the chief building engineer of the Providence Park Medical Office Building in Novi, Michigan received such a call on the afternoon of Thursday, February 18. As luck would have it, Don had left the building for the day and was miles away when he received the emergency call about the flood. Don’s decades of experience in how to manage this issue was of little use as he was 30 minutes away from the building. Don’s immediate thought was to call Cody Bockmiller, an EVS professional day porter with The Professional Group that was still working in the building. Don carefully explained to Cody what needed to happen in order to shut off the water supply to the suite. Cody followed every order to perfection and was able to turn off the water to the suite in a matter of minutes, minimizing the water damage to the suite and its contents. Cody’s fast response and teamwork mentality was instrumental in preventing significant damage to the suite and surrounding areas. Don was able to return to the building and contact the folks from BELFOR to come in and start extracting the standing water along with Cody’s help.

Cody continues to go above and beyond as a valued member of our EVS partner, The Professional Group. His attitude, aptitude and willingness to help a client in a time of need is to be commended. Bravo!!
